Burson-Marsteller, Japan

Greetings from Burson-Marsteller Japan.

I am proud to be introducing Burson-Marsteller Japan and our delightful team of PR professionals that I am so fortunate to work with every day. You might already be one of our clients, worked with us in the past, a colleague from overseas or looking for a trusted partner in Japan to help raise your corporate profile or perhaps prepare a senior executive for media exposure on the latest product offering.

Whatever your reason for arriving at this site, I hope we will get the chance to meet to discuss your organization’s communications needs soon.

Public relations in Japan has changed considerably over the years. Burson-Marsteller has been a part of this journey from the early beginnings. Our Japan presence dates back to 1973, when our founding chairman Harold Burson, at a time when PR was still an unknown discipline in Japan, had the wonderful foresight to see it becoming a critical aspect of managing and growing an organization.

Since that time our mandate has been to always be one step ahead. We started early in building a track record of holding many “firsts”, helping our clients to stand out from the crowd, and take the lead in issues that mattered.

Our unmoving goal was then as it remains now to help our clients, be they large corporations, governments, smaller companies or interest organizations, to build, through communications, a solid reputation that assists in achieving the business results they seek.

One of our “firsts” was to bring to Japanese women the first marathon event in 1974 at a time when many in Japan could not even imagine that women too would adopt long distance running as a sport.

In early 1980s, we were first to offer highly tailored media spokespeople training for top executives of listed Japanese conglomerates.

We have been first to enunciate the importance of communications in management which has enabled us to carve a special niche in the industry as thought leaders in the building of CEO reputation in Japan, for foreign as well as Japanese chief executives.

Today, PR is established as a professional discipline. Our professionals are called on regularly not only to help plan and implement creative public relations plans but also to directly advise Japanese corporations’ senior executives on communication issues affecting their businesses. Strategic communications can play an integral part in successful organizational restructurings and repositioning, as well as high-profile roles in M&As and controversial stakeholder relations. At Burson-Marsteller Japan we have the experience to play this part.

Our Japan team comprise of core disciplines: Corporate & Financial, Healthcare, IT and Marketing. Our offerings encompass public affairs, issues management, CSR, crisis communications and an extensive roster of training programs enabling us to assist a variety of companies in different industries.

Welcome to our site. We would like you to get to know us better and respond to what you are looking for.
